I'm replacing the window regulator in my brothers 2000 ranger. With the window all the way up there's zero tension on the spring, and it can fall off. I rigged up some duct tape to hold it in place, but there's gotta be something wrong. Any ideas?
On a side note, the window can't roll itself up. The motor whines but no movement. I replaced the regulator because the old one had some play in the arm, so I thought maybe it was pushing itself off the gear. I tore the motor apart and didn't see any damage to the gears.

Also, the autodown doesn't stop. I expected the new regulator to fix that but apparently not

Another side note, the window motor appears to be a replament. Branded "gmx" anyone know who sells this brand?

Thought I'd update this. The gear key is broken, that's why the gears look fine.
"GMX" isn't the brand, ACI is. So free replacement :)

Any ideas on the regulator spring though?
