posi in an awd escape????

has anyone fused the spider gears in the rear pumpkin on an awd escape to make it into a posi rear end? I want to eliminate the one wheel action for rougher trail riding.

I can't see locking the rear diff in that to be a good idea. I doubt the shafts/CVs are designed for that kind of stress.

I forgot they were IRS... Todd has a good point.

I take it no one makes a locker for it?

Can't say I'm familiar with how sturdy the Escape rear CV axles are, but never had any issues on my IRS 2004 explorer with a locker in it. But it would unlock on turns.

Why not try this, I believe it might work in your diff:

so it turns out that up to 05 the rear diff may be limited slip, a dana 174?? i found a data sheet online with axle ratios, etc...

anybody ever attempt to put one of these rear axles in one that didn't come originally equipped?

so 01-early 05 escape with the selectable 4wd has a limited slip rear diff according to vehicle codes. I need to see if i can put one of these in my late 05 with non-selectable 4wd. Not sure if the casing is the same in all years,
