Hey,

Ok there is a major problem underneath my Explorer whenever i ACCELARATE hard wich is over
3,000 RPMS...The problem is a NOISE its sounds like metal grinding...its pretty loud...but it goes away when i slow down and drive Normal. Do you think its the Tranny??? or maybe my Exhaust??
Whatever it is can you please give me your Input?

Thankyou, XplorerJared

If you have any more info or symptoms that would help. It doesn't sound like your tranny because that would be when it shifts (correct me if I'm wrong guys). Is it a 4x4? I would suggest buying a code reader for $30 and hopefully that would lead you in the right direction.

I thought I remember hearing in auto shop one time that a small exhaust leak can sound like a mechanical (engine) problem.

I wonder if as you accelerate there is more noise going through a leak, so it only becomes audible at higher RPMs.

Or maybe your valves are floating?

Brian
