The Navigation System and the SD Card

Since the Nav system does not work without the SD card installed, can this card be backed up? An SD card can be easily lost or damaged, especially in a car environment, if you are not careful.

I'm sure you can back it up... The problem might be when you tried to use the backup card. They might have some checks built in, ensuring you're only using "official" cards.

That being said, you'd really have to try to lose the card. The SD slot is in the cubby that has the SYNC logo, along with the USB ports, etc. The cubby will most likely be always closed. It's not in the way, and like most SD cards, you have to push it in to get it to come out.
 






If you have linux knowledge or know someone who does, you can easily do a bit level copy thus creating an identical card.

Some modern flash memory is reliable.

I'm sure this would be replaced in the first 36K.
