Taillights - Explorer to Mounty

I did a quick search but didn't see any posts - are the Explorer tail lights (stock or aftermarket) interchangeable with the Mountaineeer's? And which years? I have 2005 Mounty and hate the stock tails.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

I believe they are the same for 2002-2005, and 2006-2010 are the same. If you want to switch to the 2006 style taillights, you have to do some wiring changes, but the explorer and Mountaineer taillights should all be the same housing and plugs/holes for the bulbs.

Thanks! I kinda figured, but wanted to check. If anyone's had good or bad experiences with aftermarket lights please post it.

From what I have been reading on here in the post 3rd gen with 4th gen tail lights you also have to use the explorer bumper too.
