2004 Mazda b4000
Hi,

Trying to find out if anyone is familiar with a 2004 Mazda b4000 with a 4.0 l engine. I have a mechanic customer and he was saying that the 2004 Mazda b4000 4.0 engine has two timing belts and wanted to know if there was instructions on how to change them. Does this model have two timing belts and if so what is the procedure to change them? Is there a link to this procedure somewhere?
Thanks

I am pretty sure your truck has several timing "chains" which have an extensive process involved for replacement. If the chains have failed there might be other internal engine damage, as the 4.0 sohc is an "interference" engine.

Good luck!

Changing the timing chains on a 4.0 SOHC involves removing the engine and using some special expensive tools for timing the cam. It is very costly to do this.

No belts. That engine has four timing chains. The primary chain, left bank chain, and balance shaft chain are on the front and the right bank chain is on the rear of the engine. The engine must be removed to access these chains, and the timing procedure is complicated and requires the set of special tools. It is an interference engine. It is a very expensive job to do.

Thank you to all for the responses.
