I'm finding a lot of universal kits online, and not anything specific for this sub. Searched the forum, didn't find anything. I'm not sure what will work, so wondering if anyone can point me to a kit that will definitely fit the factory sub.

There are no surround kits specific to that sub, or for most other factory subwoofers.

Replacing the surround of a speaker or subwoofer is usually something done by home audio enthusiasts.

Since the factory subwoofer tends to blow, it's more common to see it replaced with a cheap ~$20 sub, if not upgraded to a better aftermarket model and an aftermarket amp.

Your best bet for repair is probably going to be one of those universal kits.

I'm the type of person that if I can fix something instead of replacing it then I fix it. Unless it's more cost effective to buy a new speaker. I haven't seen any ~$20 subs, but I'd give one a try.

I would look for an actual subwoofer, not woofer.

I had a Goldwood woofer from Parts Express in the past. It was the first speaker I tried in my "Budget Bass" project. It worked, but I was never really impressed with the actual bass output.

The OEM sub is nothing spectacular, or rare, to be repaired. They are known to just stop working also. Keep in mind it is 18 years old.

It the sub is in good shape otherwise, it might be worth it to refurb the surround, especially if you plan on keeping the system factory stock.

You can usually get cheapo Boss/Pyle/Pyramid brand 8" subs for ~$20, sometimes less.

Look on ebay or car audio sites to price subs and compare the price and labor of a surround kit and decide which way you want to go.

If you do end up replacing it, just remember that it is a shallow mount sub. You only have about 2.5-3 inches in the enclosure.

Yeah, the stock sub is 4 inches deep, and the bottom of it rests on the back of the enclosure when it's mounted up. I was only looking into shallow mount subs that were in $80~ range, but maybe I'll find something else that will work.

I ended up finding a rubber surround on eBay that had matching measurements. Only cost about 8 bucks shipped. I could have probably done a less messy job gluing it down, but I think it turned out pretty good. The sub works like it should again.
Here's a link to the listing if anyone that might need one.
