Anyone know the difference in the Motocraft o2 Sensors on their web site.. I know need two front and rear, will i just use the same one?

On my 99 SOHC, fronts are different from rears. At the least, their electrical connectors are different. If you read the sensor description fine print on Rock Auto, it should distinguish. If not, try googling the part numbers to see which is front and which is rear.

thats why i asked, is because the description says front on both. only diff is the item number and color of cord. when i call up to like Adv Auto they only have one o2 Sensor with a side note of takes two. i just didnt think its right to use the SAME o2 sensor in front/back

Couldn't tell you. Are you sure your '93 has 4 O2 sensors? Theoretically, front and rear O2 sensors should be the same mechanically - there is a standard value voltage that all O2 sensors put out. I believe you can replace O2 sensors in all cars with universal sensors that you have to splice yourself, but it saves you some money over getting vehicle specific ones with the proper connector on the end.

Take a look under your truck and examine the electrical connectors on the front and rear sensors. The first cue is their color - but look to see if the notches line up the same way. If the connectors are the exact same, then sounds like you just need 1 part number for any of the 4 of them.

A '93 (OBD1) will have 2 sensors; one for each bank. '96 and up (OBD2) will have 4 sensors. There will be one on each bank, before the cats, and one after each cat. OBD2 monitors catalyst efficiency, and that is the job of the rear o2 sensors (after the cats). The ecm uses the FRONT o2 sensors ONLY, to monitor/adjust air/fuel ratio. The rear o2's have no affect on the ecm's "decisions" about how much fuel to add or take away.

The O2 sensors on a '93 will be different from the '96up (OBD2).The '93 uses a 3-wire heated O2 sensor, whereas the '96up uses a 4 wire. The additional wire, I believe, is used by the ecm to monitor the O2 sensor function, as part of the OBD2 protocol. Interestingly, Rock does list both 3-wire, and at least 1 4 wire sensor as stock for the '93 (Bosch 15719). I guess that the 4th wire corresponds to a "dead" hole on the vehicle side connector (on a '93), and just doesn't get used.

Bosch part#'s 15716, 15717, 15718, and 15719 are all mechanically/electrically identical.They are all 4-wire heated sensors, listed as oem fit for a '99 Explorer SOHC. Although they are listed as for specific positions (ie, upstream bank1,etc..), the only difference between them is the wire pigtail length. The front and rear sensors are the same, including the connectors. The only difference is the pigtail length. You could just buy 4 of the longest part#, and zip tie up the extra wire, on the locations where it is not needed.

its a 93 i only have 2 o2 sensors, thats the problem i ran into last time is the pigtail on the rear wasnt long enough... had the stretch it.. so im wantting to buy from rockauto cause its a exp vendor for our site and i want to keep the experience through our site but for the most part it sounds like just order two of the same 3 wire units for a 93, thanks.

Ashley, I have a question regarding an axle shaft seal I just ordered. I called the number here and asked the person what seal to get They said part number 710065, which does say it's for the right side 97 5.0 differential axle seal. But while reading a thread here someone said the part number was 710428. So I looked and the 710428 is for axle size 1.75" and the 710065 is for an axle size 1.181". Can you tell me which one is correct? I don't want to tear it down until I have the right seal and if there's a 50/50 chance I'm sure I have the wrong one, lol.

I understand that part. But the problem is determing which axle shaft I have. The half shaft I bought was part number 602027. Your employee called the company and they couldn't tell them anything. I talked to Ford and they didn't know anything about two diff axle shaft sizes for that year AWD. But on Monday when I called to order it your employee gave me the 710065 as the correct seal. But that may be because it's listed first.
