Washington, DC in 2001?

Back in 2001 I went on an REC sponsored trip to Washington, DC, the other day I was thinking about that trip and remembered that I was there at about the same time that they were making a big fuss about Explorers being unsafe and whether it was Ford's fault or Firestone's fault, anyway, while I was in DC I saw a whole bunch of people were there to rally in support of the Explorer and I was just wondering if anybody on this site took part in it

I don't remember hearing about a Pro-Explorer rally in DC back in 2001.. I must have been out of the loop or something.

I recall discussions here (I believe) about getting a line of Explorers to go to Washington but I don't believe anything ever became of it. As for in Washington, I wouldn't doubt a handful showed up to protest but I doubt it was a million Explorer march...

It must not have been a real big deal then, I just thought of it the other day because that was the first time I saw a 3rd Generation Explorer
