I'm pretty sure just some Testor's Candy Apple spray paint from a hobby store will do the job. Whether he used that or not, same results.

nah, i just used the testor's paint that i got at walmart. i have about 3 cans in my garage.

i know a lot of other people have done it before with mixed results. IF you do a good job of taping it off and a GREAT job of doing the right number of very thin coats AND prepare the tails very carefully it will come out good as stock. If you fail in any of those things all hell will break loose when it rains or something (i've seen it many times)

I wasnt sure if you used testors or the japanese spray. I think I will do mine tomorrow. What kinds of solvents did you use to clean the tail lights. Also what other preparation did you use. You think that painters tape will be sufficient for taping it off?

also which testors paint did you use?

Yes, any masking tape will do. When I smoked my tails with the Japanese stuff, I just used packaging tape to razor around my white area (obviously you just need to tape off the top amber).

I suppose just a nice warm soap/water cleansing will get most of the rubbish off. Might also want some degreaser.. other than that you should be fine.

just got back from the fabric store- got some black suede. I will be covering the front and rear of my box with it (the top is glass and painted), my center console lids, and the perforated parts on the doors.

so now i can say i have a CLAIBORNE custom suede/fiberglass interior lol

Don't you hate it when you have to go to the fabric store for supplies? All the middle aged women that shop there look at me funny when I go get fleece.

It will be interesting to me to see how your doors and console lid turn out. Make sure to take plenty of pictures. Also I amy be taking you up on that tailight gig. How long will it take to do it? If I 2nd day shipped them to you, how soon would I get them back?
