I thought the KO designation was only for the all terrain?

My guess: KM = Key on Mud KO = Key on Offroad ?

I have seen that there are BFG MTs that are KM, and have seen some listed that are not KM. Anyone know what the difference is? |

if it isnt the km and its the mud terrain, its probably the older version
if it isnt the ko and its an all terrain, its probably the older version |

I've got 3 of trckmagik's old 35" muds and one new one (the KM). There is one noticable difference that I've seen and it's a little extra sidewall tread that isn't there on the older ones. I can probably take pics tomorrow if I think about it

Not a biggie Bob...........I was just wondering. Thanks to you and Jim for the info.
Mine are KMs and are used, but I had seen the non-KMs.........and was just interested in the differences or if one was a piece of junk or not. |

The KM and KO designations are for the new series of All-terrain and Mud-terrain tires in the T/A series.
The Muds are KM and the All terrains are KOs. There are actually 100s of changes in the tire. The most noticable are the side walls. There are two different compounds available on the muds. __________________ US Air Force Mission Director '96 Ford Bronco (daily driver) '67 Land Cruiser trail rig project "My Give a Damn is Busted!" |

Maybe I should edit my reply. All the tires are T/As. The added KO and KM came after the redesign. That's a good pic to show the main visual difference from the old All-terrain T/A and the new All-terrain T/A-KO.

also, the KM's and the KO's, to my understanding, have the "Rim Protector" rubber on them too. Which is a thicker piece of rubber runnign along the lip of the tire where it mounts to the wheel to protect your wheels rims from being dented by rocks. (at least, my KO's do.)

if you look real close in that pic, you can see that mine have the rim protector as well.

I seem to remember BF Goodrich stating that "KO" meant Key Offroad when the newer all terrains came out. I'd assume that "KM" means Key Mud. The juries out on KX - Key Extreme? Key as in specialty etc...
