Question Do gas prices affect your driving?

As gas prices are once again on the rise, and it's a favorite subject of complaint, I figured I'd see how it affects each of us.

Personally, I burn through about a tank of gas every week. And in the summer at about $30 a pop it isn't enough to hurt, but it does add up. Normally, if the forecast is dry and warm, I'll bike to work. But now that all of Chicago's buses have bike racks, I've started biking regardless of the afternoon forecast, just so long as I can get to work dry. Mostly it's just great exercise, but it definitely helps my gas budget.

It definitely affects driving. My wife's truck has two sets of tires, one for winter and one for summer. The one for the winter is very narrow (215/70-16) thus it uses less gas (26 mpg) and the one for the summer is very wide (255/55-17) (21 mpg). We decided to keep using the winter tire set until gas prices go back down.

I wish I was closer to work that I could bike there. That would have been great!

If it gets too bad, I do drive my wife's Galant.

With the completion of my mod's, I'm getting about 3-4 MPG better mileage than last month, so I'm still a little ahead of my gas budget for now. Gotta stop that

It doesn't affect me too much. I was lucky to live within a mile of work and school, so I don't have to use anything too much. If at all, I don't go back home to visit my family too much when its high.

When I need to take trips, I use my 2001 Subaru. 30MPG in an AWD car isn't bad. If it's small trips, or trips that require hauling a decent amount of stuff, I use my Trac. As the weather gets nicer, I will probably stick to the Trac, regardless of mileage. It's new, and I want to enjoy it.

I don't drive hard enough for it to effect me. I might hit 3K once a week, just when I get the urge to get on it. Most of the time I accelerate less than 2K, I seem to keep up with traffic just fine. So its not like Im creepin' around town. Gas went down 4 cents per gal. today.... I hope thats a good sign. (my enter keys arent working or else I would have dropped my name down two lines....) Shane

It doesnt affect me at all. I only drive about 70 miles a week give or take. Id rather pay $1.90 a gallon than walk 14 or so miles. If I put alot of miles on a vehicle like some others than yeah it would affect my driving.

Thats the best part about the company car, the company pays for gas

Still have to pay for my wife's, and when I drive the Infiniti I have to pay for it, but it sure is nice to roll up and use that corporate speedpass

I might complain a little more, but I don't let gas prices stop me from going anywhere I want to go

It could have been an evil laugh, or a snide laugh, or a haughty laugh. I wasn't sure. And with the number of people filling up and not paying increasing over 300% lately, ya never know. I just feel bad for gas station owners. They're only making a couple of pennies per gallon. And if just one guy does it, they've lost a ton of profit.

I feel bad for the people running the cash register, alot of times it comes out of thier pay when people steal gas

Can you imagine working 8 hours and having some jerk in an SUV pull up and basically steal your entire day's paycheck? Damn SUVs, I hate them so much. That's why I drive one, it's one less jerk on the road. Hey, it could happen...
