Argh! Those of you with 18" rims stop in here.

Okay, so I've ordered my 18x9 White Saleens, and waiting on them to come in. So I went up to the tire place to order some tires. I chose the 255/55/18 Nitto 404's. Well dude is like "theres no way those will work on your eXplorer"... and I'm like yes they will, its been done before. He wants me to get a 265/35/18 tire. Call me stupid but I dont think that will work at all.
My question is the 255/55 will work 100% sure right? He's orderd them anyways for me and I'm picking them up soon. My X is lowered but if I've done my math right my stock size (255/70/16) overall diameter is 30.1 inches, and the new setup with the 18's would be 29.0 inches. So whats the deal with him saying they wont fit???
Gah! i hate the way people think you cant do anything to an explorer these days....and imagine a "chic" wanting to mod her X!

Anyway guys I just want some clarification here.
Thanks

**edit fixed tire size**

He is full of crap, doesnt know what he's talking about, and doesnt have a clue as to what real tire sizes are. There are literally thousands of explorers out there with 255/55's on 18" wheels. This is basically the perfect size for that wheel. Dont listen to him- they will work great.

Did you tell him 255/15 or 255/55? Maybe you confused the hell out of him.

Arrow

255 width comes standard with the premium wheels from the factory
i run 255/55/r18 and i took the T-bolts out. no rub. plenty of room.
i wish i had gotten wider tires. a 9" rim and 255 width is actualy pretty small. its very easy to curb your rims, no sidewall protection.
