I can't get the clear coat off my rims, their so old and they look horrible, I even tried regular paint thinner, and also nevr dull but it did nothing still crappy. I just want the clear coat off so I can maybe get them to look half decent. Please help

Hi 91explorer1009:

Try either acetone or laquer thinner. If these don't work, you'll have to use a chemical paint remover. Get something with methylene chloride in it.

I once had to clean up an old set of wheels from a Monte Carlo. Nothing would get the clearcoat off. I finally just sandblasted them. I wouldn't recommend that approach if you want to polish your wheels, however.

Regards,
John.
