Balance issue?

I have a vibration in the front end of my explorer. Thing is its only between 35-45/50 mph. If a tire was out of balance, it would constantly vibrate, no?

Ok, thanks man. It pisses me off, because I bought my tires at 4WP and they were supposed to balance them. If they were closer, it wouldnt be so bad, but they are WAY far away. Never again!

What size tires did you get? When I put mine on I started having a vibration problem just like your describing and it isnt an unbalanced wheel. I had the balanced 3 times and roadforce balanced once and i still have the problem. I sure hope yours is an easy fix though. Goodluck.

I had mine balanced where they used weights on both sides of the wheel. It helps a LOT with the balance situation.
I bought my tires/wheels from 4wp and they were balanced horribly, a very bad shimmy at roughly 45.
If you call up 4wp, they'll pay to get the tires balanced by another place.

Redrig- I am running 33's. Procomp Mud Terrains.

Danny- What exactly did you tell them at 4wp? Did you just tell them that they are not doing the job, and you want them to pay for someone else to do it?

You sure it isn't a bearing?

I cant say for sure... I just replaced both sides upper/lower balljoints, outer tie rod ends, and an axle bearing. Is there an easy way to find if the wheel bearing is bad?

would a bearing do this only at certain speeds? I've been having this same problem for quite a while now and haven't figured it out.

When my drivers side bearing was going bad, it would make a whistling sound at lower speeds and quit above 25 or so.

Hmm, no whistling sounds here. Just a vibration from 35-50ish. Above and below specified numbers, it stops vibrating.

Hartman, is there an easy way to tell if the bearing assembly is going bad? Like lifting the front end, or taking the wheel off etc?
