checked my airfilter one day and half was missing

so I went out to my truck to check the vaccume lines for an unrelated problem (which doesn't exist) and I happened to check my air filter (which I just replaced this summer with a fram replacement)

GOOD THING I DID! it looked like someone ripped hal the paper out... it was complete ly missing one whole side!... I only hope it went out the intake hole...

post a pic ASAP

well see that's the thing fram air filters are suppose to be good... but I'll be damned if I buy them again... the last time I checked the filter before this was 3 weeks ago so anytime in there this happened and I've been sucking in all the crappy air since...

I hear wix and napa brand are pretty good, but if you have the money get the K&N or something reuseable.

I've never had any problems with PureOne filters. They've been good to me and my fam for a long time, though I no longer use a drop-in.

Did you have anyone else work on the car from the last time you checked until this check? I wouldn't put it past some cheesy auto repair place to tear half an air filter out in order to get more biznez. I've seen it happen at shops before, though not with my own car. I watch those guys with an eagle eye...they hate me. BWAHAHAHAHAHAA!!

Jus' my 2 cents.

hasn't been repaired in over a year, and I replaced the filter this summer and I checked it 3 weeks ago

nolonger thinking K&N... they want over $200 for a filter that bolts on to the stock assembly (after you remove the air box) this just sounds inefficient... will be looking at other kits

Explorerexpress.com has MAC intakes, not sure if they have one for a first gen, but KKM does.
