Funny RR Tech Convo

Sounds like sombody's got a case of the mondays!

Jeez, It's a simple problem, and boy did she turn it into a fight.

Well, just read

================================================
Colleen: Thank you for choosing Road Runner Technical Chat. My name is Colleen. May we have the first and last name, and the phone number with the area code of the master account holder?
You: R Weibley PH # (###)###-####
Colleen: Thank you, and with whom am I speaking currently?
You: Nathan, his son
Colleen: Thank you, what technical issue may we assist you with?
You: my domain www.e-techcorp.net has been inaccessible for several days now, but I know it is valid, and the DNS/nameserver entries on the hosting company are valid, because anyone on any other provider can get to it...
You: why am I the only one who cannot view my own domain?
Colleen: Which operating system are you currently using, Windows or Macintosh? We also require the version please.
You: Windows XP Professional
Colleen: Do you have a hub, router or firewall installed?
You: Yes and the domain is in no way blocked on it. I have already plugged directly into the cable modem and still had no success
Colleen: What ip address are you currently getting?
You: For the domain? Or for my cable connection?
Colleen: For the cable modem.
You: 24.92.198.200
You: This website is not hosted from my internet connection as I think you know (just clarifying)
Colleen: Please shutdown your firewall software completely, so that it is not running at all, so that we can rule it out as a possible cause of this issue. Once that is done we can continue to troubleshoot this issue.
You: There is no software running on my computer that acts as a firewall... at all.
You: Only my NAT router for distribution across my home network
Colleen: Unfortunately I can not ping that ip address which means you have either a firewall or router attached.
Colleen: Please disable these and then we can troubleshoot this issue.
You: Okay so you want me to allow ping replies
You: fair enough
Colleen: At this point, we require that you disable your network to rule it out as a possible cause of this issue. Please disengage the network and connect your computer directly to the cable modem. Then unplug the modem from the power, leave it for two full minutes, then plug it back in to the wall outlet. After that, please reboot your computer and log into chat again so we can troubleshoot this issue further.
You: Okay
You: I'm going to be VERY blunt
You: It’s not my network
You: Nobody in my neighborhood can access it
You: nobody in Tampa on Roadrunner can access it
Colleen: Yes, I understand it is probably not the network but we require a direct connection.
You: That is all the help you can provide me? You insist that I try to fix a problem that we have already ruled out? I am sorry, but I find that completely irrelevant and unhelpful. I realize you are just doing what you are told, but honestly, I don't think either of us has any expectation that doing so will change anything in any way for me.
Colleen: Again, I'm not saying it will make a difference but we are unable to troubleshoot or escalate the issue when a router or firewall is enabled.
You: Okay. At this point there should be no router. I have passed my local ip directly through the router to the outside network.
Colleen: Have you connected the Ethernet cable directly from the computer to the cable modem and rebooted the modem?
You: No and I do not intend to. As it stands, the packets are being passed straight through the router as if my computer were plugged directly into the cable modem, and for all intents and purposes there is no difference. Doing so would require me to break my connection with the internet, and I have no intentions of doing so as I am downloading a rather lengthy and uninterruptible binary file. Again, I am not trying to be combative, but that is just a step I am not willing to take because it is superfluous and detrimental to the work I am currently doing.
Colleen: Unfortunately I am unable to ping your ip still. For us to troubleshoot this issue we require the router to be bypassed. This is a step that must be taken with the issue you are currently having. If you rather not do this then is there any other technical issue I can assist you with this evening?
