While chasing down vacuum leaks, I discovered that the connection between the *large* booster hose and the actual booster assembly is poor - the grommet in the booster is checked and craked, and will leak if I wiggle it. Is the grommet a servicable item? Can I just pull the hose out and change it, or is there some special procedure to remedy this? I'm afraid to pull the hose out for fear of making it worse and not being able to reconnect it.

BTW, my power brakes seem to feel fine, so the vacuum is there. I am running lean, and plan to torque the lower manifold later to rule out any vac probs.

You probably have less braking power at high speeds and this can lean out the engine. They sell these gromets in the "Help" parts section of Autozone etc. The fitting that is in it is actually a check valve so booster vacuum doesn't drop when accelerating.

That's good news! Thanks OperaHouse! Do I just pull the old one out and slap in the new one? Any caveats to be aware of?

Thanks in Adavnce,

Tom
