I've seen several threads where it's been discussed. Someone has stuffed a Cummins (??) in an Ex but it didn't sound very easy.

Did you try a Search?

Overseas there's a Power Stroke turbo diesel available for Rangers, i believe 2.5L. It is rumored that this engine will bolt up. It seems that fitting it would be easy considering the smaller displacement. Getting hold of one of these engines wouldn't be that difficult, but I think someone said it costs about $4000.

a 3.9 4 cly? No aying it not true but thats a huge 4 cly. I understand to swap b/c Diesel last longer but whats the power increase?

3.9L 4 cyl cummings: 140hp; 350 ftlbs; redline @ 2500 rpm

Powerstroke V6

I am a co-op at International Diesel in Huntsville, AL (where the V6 Powerstroke was supposed to be made for Ford before they backed out on it) and the 4.5L V6 is still going to be made, but put in International LCF trucks (http://www.internationaldelivers.co...tail.asp?id=563&group=heavy&name=Heavy Trucks). I'm not sure about the measurements exactly, but it looks small enough to fit in an Explorer. 200 Hp and 440 Lb-ft  . It would make for a sweet swap after all the kinks are worked out of it. :)

Its just a regular 5.9 Cummins with 2 cylinders hacked off. They've been around for years.... just not many in our part of the world.

Thanks for all the good input. The International option and the 3.9 Cummins sound interesting.
