I've checked for screws and don't see any. I removed the wiper arm, jiggled the cowl a bit and can't see any mounting points. Where are the screws?
I searched the forums and found one post referencing some screws toward the center of the cowl, so I went out and looked and didn't see any screws or holes where some should be. My TBird has screws holding it's cowl down and they are pretty obvious, but I haven't seen anything like those on my X. Maybe because the Explorer is a 98+?
The driver side overlaps the passenger side and the last groove on the driver side has a philips screw take a GOOD look. I have a 96 Limited and a 99 Sport. Both are the exact same.

Got it. The cowls are held in place by clips that are on the bottom od the cowl. I didn't see any screws or any holes for the screws. They popped right off after using some soft plastic pry levers. Unfortunately the drivers side broke because of the 30 degree temps, so I'll have to find a replacement somewhere, but I did get the washers working again. The wiper motor arm had cut through my washer line below the cowl. Another all-day 30 minute job. Thanks for the help everyone.
