is there a light bulb replacement write-up?

i havent been able to find one, and the info on replacement bulbs is everywhere... im just about going off the top of my head and what i find out. ive replaced just about every bulb in my car front to back except a few that i missed, 2 that i bought the wrong size bulbs for, and one i cant seem to find out (cargo dome light) because i cant seem to get it off.

P.S. the Sylvania site sucks for finding replacement bulbs... some of them dont even match up to bulbs...

(i think it should be stickied since every once in a while i see somone asking which bulb is the replacement bulb for this or that)

i know there arent many bulbs, but i would of found it a bit easier than a few trips to the store, and the hassle of getting some of the bubls out to see what they look like and guessing which one it is when at the store... just to make things a bit easier....

well im converting my 899(?) fogs to H3's... i mean going to adapt the H3's i ordered today on to the 899 socket. ive tried it with a cheapy H3 bulb and it worked! now i hope it goes the same with the $65 PIAA H3...

and also... the 3rd/cargo dome light... im doing a custom adaption for that too... apparently theres no hyper white replacement for that either...

then all thats left is turning my 3rd brake light white/clear... and ill be done with all my lighting needs (found the write-up just need to do it now)

well i took my cluster apart... and found that there are only "6" 168/194 bulbs (to light up the gauges)... and 16-18(+1 special) bulb (indicator lights) that is smaller than that, its a little thiner than an LED but about just as long as one... size, i dont know sylvania says they are 194's which is totally wrong.

im going to search for another 5 minutes before i just say scew it and order the wedge (168/194) bulbs

This would be a good candidate for a writeup, complete with photos.

found it quite hard to solder the bulb to the prongs... so i may do it a different way when i get the PIAA's.

but will do, not that hard of a rig, but ill do a simple write-up

MY WRITE UP FOR MY 97 EXPLORER BULB REPLACEMENT! *now with pictures*

EXPLORER BULBS

(13 TOTAL)168, 194- (2) Map Lights, (2) License Plate Lights, (1) Glove Box Light,(2) Puddle lights, (6) Gauge Cluster Lights

(5 TOTAL)912- (2) Dome Light, (2) Front Side Marker, (1) Hood Light

(4 TOTAL)3156- (2) Reverse Lights, (2) Rear Signal Lights
(6 TOTAL)3157- (2) Brake Lights, (4) Front Signal Lights

** WHAT I USED FOR THE CARGO DOME LIGHT 19223 (T-6?) *note, this will require a slight mod (a "chassie" fuse holder from radio shack or wherever, pictured below the bulb)

to insall it, take the metal pieces out and snap them on the sides of the bulb, bend the metal pieces inward (from the plastic dome light) and use the extra hooks to hook the loops on the chassie fuse holder metal tabs (confusing but youll get it when you see it)

that was hella hard... it took me 2 tries (the first one i was afraid to brake the headliner), but i said "im giong to get this baby out". i used a flat head screw driver and put it in one side( right side if your facing inward) twisted it a little, then went around as the gap appeared. its either glued in or double sided tape in on one of the sides thats why it was so hard to get out

the LB74B? yes... same as 168/194... but you get the socket that the bulb plugs in to on the one in the bottom (or so it would appear)

not the replacement indicator lights though
