Lightbulb Puddle Light LED's

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport. I'm all about customizing my interior and exterior lighting, everything from neons and LEDs all the way up to HID units. For my next project, I was contemplating taking the stock puddle lights out from underneath my mirrors and replacing them with multiple LEDs. Has anyone ever done something like this before and if so, what kind of LEDs did you use?
