Just bought HID Kit.
I just recently purchased a Hella 8000K HID Conversion kit, the 9007 model for my 2000 XLT. Has anyone had experience with this kit, or could they tell me how they look? Thanks.

Take pictures. Also, why did you go with the 8000K? Most people say for the best lighting to go for the 6000K. Just wanted to know your reason - unless you want that real blue look (which I like myself).

How silly do you think it will look if I ran the Fog and low beams together. Just wondering... |

I'm thinking about a retro using BMW/AUDI bi-xenon light units grafted into the factory lamps. These would give the best results as they are OEM projector light units.

Do you have about 1,500 - 2,000 to spend? The lights themselfs aren't cheap.

eBay! I'm retrofitted and it was under a grand. I wouldn't even consider an HID bulb conversion. Projectors are the ONLY way to go. Even when properly aimed these plug-in kits shoot light all over.
Since you bought Hella, your kit should last a while. Are the ballasts Hella? The bulbs are probably cheap no-names. If you decide you don't like the 8000k because of its crappy light output (:p), buy some Philips or Osram 4100/4300k bulbs. __________________ 1994 Explorer XLT My registry entry: here Diamond Everything w/ HID Bi-Xenon Projectors I'm no doctor, but I am a self-proclaimed genius. I bought the projectors lamps for under $200. Hella ballast and the proper Philips D2S bulbs go for around another $200. It is the only legal way to do it and if I can find a way of mounting the lamps that looks "just right" I'll do it. I just had my diamond backs from the GB last year installed before the winter and now I'm waiting for the matching diamond back clear corners arriving.
Anybody out the fitted HID projectors that could provide pics/ideas? __________________ We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring T.S. Eliot. |

I just started a project retrofitting some BMW projector HID's into a set of the diamond cut clear headlights.. I'll post pics of my progress..
I got everything for under $300.. projectors from an X5, and the bulbs and ballasts from an M5.. |

If I don't use them they will sell on E-bay. Sometimes you have to actually see the beast to understand the how's and where's. And, it's usually easier to duplicate what somebody else has done.

Sorry, I don't have any install pics. An HID projector retrofit is NOT legal

Real HID's are the way to go. So much better at night. I have them on my Acura. The X I can do without. My lighting upgrades let me see enough. If I need more light I can plug in my 1Mil candle power spotlight.
