FROADER's "Re-registry"

Well as many know, I haven't had my explorer for quite some time. That has all changed since about 1 hour ago. I bought Mark's Explorer from him this morning (Felix on the board) and I'm already loving it.

This is my old one.

This is the 'new' one.

Here is the link to Mark's write up of my Explorer. Write up of Explorer

The new look: Took off the brush guard and painted the EB tan to black.

7/13/06 Update

Added a wristed arm...

...so I can do this:

I also swapped the front EZ-locker for a True Trac L/S.

Added a speaker so I can hear my CB.

8" subwoofer

About ten minutes with a little saw and channel locks and about twenty minutes with my 4.5" angle grinder with a 36 grit disc, (what I use for the tikis) and it was done.

Jefe-
is right! I'll see you in Calico!

Jim-
Mark had already cut the rear panel so I don't have to do that anymore. I want a rear bumper/tire carrier, cage, either RE control arms (like Jefe) or wristed RAs, Atlas II, maybe regear to 4.88 or 5.13, front bumper and brush guard mod (see photoshop pic below) and I'll be "done".
No plans for fenders on this one. I thrashed the last ones and don't want to bother with them this time.

bmxking5 -
He is more than likely going to be sent to Japan for the Marine Corps this year for 2-3 years.

I took the window "wind shields" off today. Need to make a rear bumper so I can get rid of the stock one and make it come to the back of the rear wheel well.

He's seen pics but not in person yet. I talked to him last night about it and he's ready to look at the front and let his mind go to work. I'll see him tonight, He should actually be getting off work right now.

Damn, that thing looks great. Does it have around 7-8" of lift with the new suspension? Congrats again Fender

Mark - It sucks that you had to sell it after all of the hard work, but hopefully you'll get another when you get back. Be safe!

I was bummed when Mark told me he was gonna sell his ride but he couldn't have sold it to anyone better.
You'll probably have to go the wristed arm route, you wont have room to mount those link brackets with the cast wedges on there unless you had the housing retubed which would be a pain in the ass. Anyways, congrats and can't wait to see the mods you do to it.

Looks good, I like it. I went on the link to the thread you provided; looks like some quality fab work went into that front axle. Good stuff!

Thank you for the kind words Dave.

I'm sure I will end up dong the wristed arm for the reason you mentioned too. So far the mods that have been done are the window visors are off and the front bumper and brush guard look exactly like the picture above.

I don't know why I've never shown this on here before... We've had it for probably 5 year and it never occured to me to post it up on the site.
It's not mine but it's the company's Field Supervisor Vehicle.

I'll try to get a picture of mine next to it later.
