Help please!! ((ABS)) light just came on
I was riding on the interstate when the ABS light came on and stayed on. Is this something that I can maybe have a mechanically minded friend look into or take to or should I take it to a brake shop.
Thank you for your replies!! |

First check your fluid level. Low fluid level can trip the ABS light.
Second, I had the ABS light come on one time when I was off-roading. I shut it off, started it up again, and the light hasn't been on since. If either of those don't help, my advice would be to take it to a brake shop. __________________ 2009 Mazda 3 Hatchback - Bone Stock |

I had this happen a couple of times. In researching on the board it seems that the ABS sensors are prone to go bad. It seems that sometimes they get dirty and can be cleaned but other times they need replacing.
In the times it happend to me it was raining and the sensors both needed replacing after going through puddles (that's what the dealer did anyway). It actually happened another time in the snow but went away when I turned off / on the car. I don't think that low fluid level will trip the ABS light but instead will trip the emergency brake light (ie: parking light). When the ABS light goes on the brake system is usually still working, just the ABS is not. Try searching the board for "ABS Light" and see what others have to say. |

Without scanning for the code(s) that illuminated the ABS warning light, determining the source of the problem is a crap shoot.

I don't mind fixing it, but it'll have to wait until later. Today I have to go to get RECON and I'm not sure they'll pass me if the ABS light is ON. Looking for a quick way to disable the ABS light without tearing apart my dash.
