I am new to this forum as well as with my explorer. I am wanting to do some modifications to it. I was wondering where everyones favorite place to get after market parts for a 92 ex is? Any direction would be greatly appreciated. I will send pics as the modifications begin. Also are there any rates that anyone can quote me on what it would cost to repaint the ex? Thank you in advance.

There are parts EVERYWHERE. Just search. Google, this site, everywhere.

Depends on what you want. You want performance, suspension etc? There's no one stop shop for 1st gen Explorers. Even the above. In fact you will have some trouble getting alot of stuff for the Explorer. It's not a very common truck for aftermarket accessories. Being a 1st gen makes it even more so cause no one thinks there's any market for it. Don't expect a great deal of stuff to be available. Do a search on this site & you will get all the sites around.

Actually there's a much bigger market suspension-wise for the 1st gen due to the simplicity of the TTB. Much cheaper to produce lifts for.

Thank you

Thank you for all the responses. I think the first thing that I am going to do is replace the front bumper. The families daughter that I bought it from hit the garage door. I think that is going to be the first try at some work on it. Again thank you

If you need genuine Ford OEM parts, try http://fordpartsnetwork.com, for aftermarket parts, try the usual suspects: Summit Racing, Performance Products, truckperformance.com, 4wheelparts.com, Explorer Express, and many more.

Actually, we're starting to come full circle with the first generation Explorers: When I first bought my 92, there was nothing available, then lots of accessories, now less and less aftermarket parts as these vehicles age. Still plenty out there, though.

When it comes down to it. Some stuff does transfer right over from the newer models (95-01) with slight modification... motors, trannies, frontclip... ect...

www.explorerexpress.com - Good spot for most your bolt on performance needs.
www.summitracing.com - Also a great spot for performance parts.
www.rockauto.com - Great spot for OEM stuff. *CHEAP

you can get an Intake for the 95+ newer OHV and make it fit in yours. All you gotta do is put your battery where the Airbox is.
