oil pressure

93 4x4 get off highway come to stop oil pressure drops idle at 600 put in park or hit gas pressure goes up. trun ac off pressure goes up. had ac checked, new sending unit, cleaned MAF,new belt,took bat. cable to set new idle?

How much does the pressure drop? It is normal for oil pressure to respond to the rpm's (since the oil pump turns faster with higher rpm's). If you have a significant drop, you might have a bad oil pump or your oil viscosity is too low (go to a higher viscosity number on the oil, i.e. the first part (5w, 10w, or 20w) is the viscosity when cold, the second part (-30, -40,-or -50) is the viscosity when hot. The higher the number the thicker the oil.). See if this helps.

Oil gauges in many vehicles are no different than the well known idiot light for loss of oil pressure. That means there are only two positions for the gauge(generally) and that is below normal(either vehicle off or no pressure) and in the middle somewhere(pressure within a given range). If I remember correctly, early explorers were fitted with these type of gauges.
True oil pressure gauges will, as pacman stated, show variance in pressure. Oil pressure does vary quite a bit from idle to WOT and even when accessories are on(the a/c for example). At our family's nursery, our dump trucks all have true oil pressure gauges in them and the variance in pressure is over 2/3 of the gauge on a normal day.
