What are the new green underlined links??
You've just discovered Vibrant Media’s

What is IntelliTXT? It is a third-party technology created and distributed through Vibrant Media Incorporated, developed to locate keywords & phrases found within text and link them to relevant commercial information. IntelliTXT is identified with a double-underline and all corresponding text ads are clearly marked with “Advertisement” or “Sponsored Link”. www.explorerforum.com and Vibrant Media. www.explorerforum.com provides valuable content and information to internet users. IntelliTXT enhances and helps support this content by delivering relevant messages in a user-controlled format. IntelliTXT helps empower users to view relevant advertising on their own terms. They only annoying thing that I can say so far is that I check my User CP everytime I log on to check on subsribed threads, and it seems like the green underlined link bubble expands over the user cp link every time I get close to it.

I tried to duplicate that problem, but couldn't. You can also check your subscribed threads from the "Quick Links" drop down menu if that helps...

I frequent the XP8 forum, and will suggest to Rob that he does not allow that on his forum. I dislike any advertising, no matter how subtle. I avoid it all, and that means that I will be here less frequently. Regards,

No problem Rick. It doesn't happen everytime with the links. I've paid my dues, and I know that bandwidth is money. I've been seeing a few more red names around here, but anything to help money wise is on you. You pay the bills, not us.

Beau I am still trying to figure out how to block the green links for Elites... I would like to do that to show my appreciation for the support you guys give the site. I just haven't found the solution yet.

Rick one question. Dose it make the money just bing their or dose it matter if I actually follow the links if it is dependent on the links I will click on more I have a fast connection and dont mind opening a few windows for ads as long as I control them.

Rick, are the green links a php include, or are they a seperate script that runs after the page is generated.
I know there is javascript injected into the page, but where is it put in? There is a solution. __________________ 1996 Lexyota FZJ-80, locked center/rear/front, 33" Revos, 3" OME Suspension lift, etc. [photos...] the lexus |

The code is in the footer template for the Vb board so it is called from every page.

I'm guessing thats an html file, correct? What I'm wondering if vB can use a .php extension from the config.php.inc file (I'm assuming they use a config file)
If so, there is an extremely simple way to do so. Since the status of a user is already checked and stored in some variable to omit the ads from the middle of posts, there is something you can reference. Assume it is $elite and that it is boolean. When you edit the footer file, you leave all the html exactly as it is so that there is no additional processing done on it (to elimate extra overhead). You just wrap the javascript and Css sheet for the link system in the following code.
<?php if( !$elite ) { ?> <!-- the link systems html goes here plaintext like it usually would --> <?php } //this ends the block of html that will be included or omitted based on the status of the elite user ?>
there is only one conditional check, which really shouldn't add much overhead. The HTML inside the curly brackets is all that is considered. The rest of it doesnt even go through the php processor, it is just sent out the stream. Did I just make any sense?

I've never administrated an vB board (because the license is $$$) so I don't know how that ad system works (between the posts in the forum) but if you snoop around that code you should find some conditional check that omits them based on the user group. Once you know the variable to reference it is as easy as adding that php code around the intellitxt html. __________________ 1996 Lexyota FZJ-80, locked center/rear/front, 33" Revos, 3" OME Suspension lift, etc. [photos...] the lexus |

No go... I added that bit of code and tried it for the admin usergroup. No errors, but it didn't remove the links either. I'll email you the hack that installs ads in the middle of threads and see if you can figure out what we need from that. The hack to install the ads in the middle of threads is fairly involved.
