The red light is for the module self test. Disconnect the five and eight wire connectors and turn the ignition switch to run. Then press the button. One flash per second means the module is working a steady light means the module failed the self test and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps.

The shift motor is the device responsible for shifting the T-Case from 2H to 4H and 4L... Check out the Shift motor rebuild Thread for lots of info and pics regarding this part.. Did you swap in a New shift motor or just once from a junk yard? I asked because all too often the old shift motors at junk yards are equally defective and will display the same symptoms.

Motor and switch have been checked out. Told they work. The amp guage moves when I press the switch for 4x4 high then it trips the module.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by checked out... Is the shift motor new or used? What does trip the module mean? Who tested the shift motor? As I indicated in my earlier post all too often people swap in used shift motors which they were told were good, only to have them fail to engage/actuate the T-Case... This often occurs because the person testing the shift motor just applies power directly to the shift motor's +/-wires and it comes alive and rotates (and proclaimed Good by the tester)... The real problem is the tester didn't test the wires associated to the geared position sensors. These wires supply feedback to the 4x4 control computer in the rear hatch and indicate the current position of the T-Case selector shaft.. Anyway all too often the stop bumper attached to the geared position sensor deteriorates and allows the sensor to move outside it's operational range and the 4x4 control module will do nothing. All you will gear is some relay's clicking, and nothing more...
