1992 X - Transmission MELTDOWN!!!

I have just taken my X to the tranny shop because of a Code 629 - and they said that they found my transmission harness melted in quite a few spots from the exhaust manifold, so that is probably what is causing the problem. Does anybody know where to get a new harness from?

Which wires are melted? is it the ones that connect to the round connector or the one that is the 3 wire connector (I thinks its 3)..

I have a 700r4 in mine, and depending on how much wire you need from the harness I may be able to get your the connectors, but...

If its just the wires you can just replace the wires from between the connector and somewhre under the hood where it is melted.. Especially if it melted right at the exhaust manifold (my wires were already fixed there since they were resting on the manifold for a while). If its melted up high enough, just replace the wires (splice in new ones where they melted).

Otherwise, its a junk yard item.. but you have to find one that will let you take just that part of the harness.. and I don't think there is a connector at the upper end, so you would end up with the entire harness (engine/trans) which will cost more.

Thanks. I ended up splicing the wires and put new tubing around them, and ziptied it away from the exhaust manifold. Nice and neat job. I am so proud.
