Power cable...any existing holes in firewall?
So, I should be getting my power cable in the mail tomorrow as well as some other goodies for my subwoofer project. I've been looking for an existing hole in the firewall I could use, but haven't found anything. I want to go in on the passenger side. Right now, the plain is to remove the fender and drill in underneath the AC stuff. And I may tap into the input line on the fusebox under the hood to keep it all neat rather than screw onto the battery.
So, are there any holes on the firewall I could use? |

the easiest way is to use the existing grommet on the drivers side behind the brake pedal. then run it along the dash to the passenger side.

I would reccomend against tapping into the fuse block, you would chance overpowering the wire (IE: Fire) when the sub hits hard and power is running through all the fuses. Just put a lug onto the wire and run it to the battery, if done right it still looks clean. Also, if you cannot use thehole in the firewall just drill out a new one, on danger in doing so, just make sure to grommet the new hole.

I have a 2003 Ford Explorer and I was thinking of running my amp wire thru the grommet bhind the brake pedal. Does that interfere with braking or anything? Are there any other holes I could go thru without drilling. I am looking to go thru on the drivers side to. Thanks.

Well, I ended up going through a hole on the inside of the hood right next to the fusebox, then through the front passenger quarter panel, through a hole in the door frame, and then through a hole under the eec to bring me to the inside. It came out pretty good, now all I need is an amp, and therefore $$$.

????? Wow, seems like alot of work for one wire, but whatever works.
Jer, yes that hole works fine but next time make your own post for your own question. Welcome to the forum. __________________ My Photos---Emily Rose---SAS Thread---My Mug 1992 4dr XLT. SAS'ed HPD44/9" 5.13's Locked F/R 36" SX 1999 4.0 5spd sport on 31" BFG Muds |

It sounds more complicated that it really is. All of the grommets were used up, so this was the easiest solution, and the neatest I think.

And as far as going thru all that for one wire, I was thinking of doing the same thing as you but I guess the Brake Pedal Grommet it better. |
