btw redranger -- sorry I forgot to take pics of the fuel line relocation near the engine bay .. I will be sure to post a few pics when its all done and everything is tucked in its proper location - right now, I still have a few things that are still moving around near the engine bay (brake lines, steering line, etc..)

I'm on the edge of my seat - my Explorer is almost ready to roll again.
The main thing thats left are the brake lines - which are coming from CA - oh and they are ultra bling: kevlar with a stainless steel braid over it, and a green plastic coating - its so bling ![]() But other than the brake lines, this is whats left: - mount reservoirs (coolant overflow and washer fluid) - fluids (both differentials, coolant, power steering, brake) - mount gas tank skid plate - bolt up rear driveshaft the front driveshaft still needs to be extended but I'm not too worried about it because I can ramp the vehicle w/o it. __________________ »»»»»...how'd the moon get there, how'd the moon get there? |

So tonight I had a few hours and reconnected the radiator and filled it with coolant. The power steering reservoir was also filled. And a few minutes later, the engine was running again !!! WOOT!
I rotated the steering wheel a few degrees just to test out the power steering lines and make sure there were no leaks (the high pressure side was completely redone which included a crappy flare job on the 3/8" tube performed by non other than ME) and the gear moved slightly. I didnt turn it enough to turn the wheels because the steering gear box is missing a bolt to mount it to the chassis -- gotta get that tomorrow So, now I'm just waiting for the bling brake hoses to arrive from somewhere in Cali and it'll be rolling

![]() =========================== Well today I drove all over the place gathering the last few parts -- transmission-to-transfer case gasket (the dealer close to my house didnt have them), some more brake hard lines, 4-guage wires to extend a few battery and power lines, heat shrink tubing for those wires, proper length bolts for the steering gear box, flare nut wrenches (a must have), and a few other little parts. Then after lunch I extended the battery wires and the wires that go to the main distribution box. After that I spent a few hours putting in the brake proportioning valve. And thats all I got done today. Oh and since the steering box was finally bolted to the frame, I was able to start the engine and turn the wheels to full left and right lock Huge milestone for me -- it can steer!! And no leaks from the steering hoses. Don't ask for pictures yet -- pictures will come in a few days after the brake hoses arrive (GD those brake hoses -- I need them NOW!!) __________________ »»»»»...how'd the moon get there, how'd the moon get there? |

Hey Iz, what company did you use for your new brake lines? I'm under the impression that the regular ol' 6" extended stainless I have won't be long enough to cope with my front travel unless I bend the hard line to an extreme angle or somesuch.

Be prepared tho - they arent the cheapest ($$ wise) brake hoses cauz they are kevlar braided and stainless steel braided. Here is Keith's thread on PBB: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=291865 You can send him a PM from there if your a PBB member. If not, you can send him an email at: keithg@xtremecrawlers.com My "drop" hoses (the one that goes from the chassis to the axles) are 36" long JUST to make sure they dont max outOh and today, I ordered an Aussie Locker for the front
