so what do you guys think? I'd be ordering it today but I'm getting married in a couple months, and oh boy is that expensive.
So whos gonna be the guinea pig?

Oh, Happy Day! I should have that sometime next month. And the fact that I have a set of 265/75/r16 waiting in the garage.....Booyah! I do not see a set for the front, and that may cause a problem, as I would like to the front and rear. Good job prerunner02.

where it says ** rear blah blah blah it is a footnote that the rear is a different diameter.

they have the front as well

i called, the ** note is to specifie that when ordering so shipping department knows what part to send when you order 2 pair. the front and then the rear have the diferent size. i am ordering...curious as to if ill be able to fit 33's with this or will i have to rig up a body lift as well..

someone with some cheese. buy these and see if they work. I'm broke as a joke, and need to know if I need to start setting money aside for them.

If the "lift kit" you're talking about are the coil spring adjusters, I think it would be better if you just replaced the stock springs with taller ones.

In addition, I'm not too sure cauz I don't have a third gen, but wouldnt the camber have to be adjusted after the added height?

well just got off the phone with them and they say that as long as you keep it 3" or under no adjustments are necessary.over 3" longer upper control arsm will be needed. but due to the rear half shafts going through the frame it cannot go over 3" anyways.

Sounds like that would be okay for smooth roads only. If you hit a pithole, the wheel will have no drop available. If going offroad, you will probably find 1 or 2 wheels off the ground a fair amount of time.

What's wrong with having wheels off the ground ;) :) :exp:

no traction = no movement

Doesn't our computers compensate for this wheels of ground condition
Scotty

Unless it can apply brake to the wheel with no traction and they have opens diffs then it could (some range rovers have this i think). I did not think that the 3rd gen explorers would do this.

Since a suspension lift would lessen the amount of down travel with the stock A-arms, i'd do a body lift instead. Then you could fit the tires, get abit more clearance underneath (suspesion isn't going to give much bacause of the lower a-arms), and you'd still have stock travel.

well you dont have to lift it the whole 3". I was thinking about 1.5" than a 2" or 3" BL.

1 more thing, I just received an email from Explorer Express stating the 3rd gen lift kit will be availible very soon. 30 days or less.

that and a bl would probably be ideal for a 3rd gen. But you're still going to loose travel so that's a big con to that particular lift. granted...it's a WHOLE HELL of a lot better than what the 3rd gen guys had before! I know that Douglas racing really did well with their explorer (rancho prototype) so i'm sure that whatever comes out for yall will be pretty sweet!

One more thing 3rd gens have limited slip and can transfer up to 100% of the power the where it needs to be.

limited slips only work until there is a certain amount of friction on one wheel. I can't quote for sure but I thought that it was 15% or so. No matter what a trac-loc axle with one wheel up in the air will deliver all the power to the wheel in the air. I know...i have one LOL

ya there all electronic now, yoy cant even put it in 2wd. And with al the speed sensors and Advance Trac, you couldnt even do a brodie if you wanted to. The damn thing will lower the throttle and can brake each wheel independantly to straighten you out.

Pain in the a$$ or a blessing to the soccer moms rolling over???????
