94 EB Sound System ?

Bought a used Eddie Bauer off a guy that came with an after market alpine CD deck. The CD player is dying (tried cleaning and everything) and I want something that plays MP3s straight off CD. That being said, I don't know what was in there to begin w/, whether it be a premium sound system, CD player or whatever. I know it's not the JBL, because I only have 4 speakers (2 front, 2 rear). Anything I should look for that would give a better indication?

If the current cd player does work(or somewhat) the factory amp is bypassed already. Now how it was done you will need to take the cd player out to find out. Hopefully there's a 2 plug harness, & nothing was cut or spliced. The amp is behind the rear passanger panel & the bypass harness goes there.

Your question is that you want to know what kind of original sound system you did have at first right?

Well like the others, not positive what you need, but if you are looking for a new deck, virtually all mainstream decks nowadays play mp3's.

Yeah, exactly. I already got the head unit I want from Crutchfield, installed it tonight as a matter of fact, but have no sound. Have a feeling I'll have to do the amp bypass I was hoping to avoid. I assume it came with the CD player stereo originally. Any retail stores carry the bypass or do I have to order it?

Some local car audio stores might be able to get it for you in a few days or maybe on hand at the moment, or you could order it off line.

Crutchfield has them. If you ordered the radio from them for the X application it should have came with it. Call them, they may send you it for free. They are good like that.

Crutchfield didn't send it, but it was mostly my fault for not knowing which system was in it initially. I was able to get the bypass from Best Buy for 19 bucks. Which isn't bad.
