I've had Gabriel and Superlift shocks on my truck but the Old Man Emu shocks I had for a year before I lifted it were incredible.

Superlift shocks are junk. I believe that Bilstein are the only monotube shocks listed in the poll. I have them on my lifted 91 and my DD Level II Ranger. The Bilstiens perform very well for stock type shocks. Comparing mono tube to dual tube is really not a fair comparison.

Monroe shocks- made by same people as Rancho at the same place, less $$. Perfect for stock height vehicles.

With that being said I have Ranchos out back because of the lift.

On a stock vehicle-Gabriel-Monroe especially with their air shocks. I have sold many a truck with them still working fine.

Bilsteins are, by design, the best suspension damper available for the stock height Explorer. Great choice for an on-and-off road 4x4. KYB MonoMax or Gas-a-just would be my next choices. Tokicos are good too but I'd probably suggest those for a 2WD. Forget the pro-comp, fabtech, superlift and other such lift company shocks. I'd suggest buying Monroe shocks before lift company shocks.
