I thought I (read: my family) had a lot of explorers. Four is a lot to own. But alas, it is not too many. I went out a couple hours ago with my dad and bought ANOTHER explorer. This time it was a 93 (I think) 2wd sport with a manual transmission. The battery was dead and jumping it didnt work, so we couldnt start it, but the price was right so we got it anyway. After we towed it home with my dad's 93 2wd xlt (SCREW YOU UHAUL), I charged the battery at 10amps for about an hour. I then cranked up the amperage to 200, and got it started by playing with the throttle. It runs and drives ok for a minute or two, but what they told us is that it either has a bad head gasket or a cracked block. Tomorrow I am going to drain all the antifreeze and flush out the system, then run some head gasket repair stuff through it. Hopefully we will get lucky and have a great running explorer for just $200 (It even came with nearly a half a tank of gas!). I just love this thing! I has all the perfect options to get great gas mileage!

If anyone currently or has ever had 5 or more explorers at one time, please post here and let me know. All other comments are also appreciated!

I have 3, 5 is a butt load man

Back in 95, when we bought a bunch of salvage explorers my brother had 4 of the soon to be like new salvage trucks, 2 donor trucks, my old 91 explorer, and my other brothers old 91 explorer, along with my wifes old bronco 2. So thats 8 first gen explorers in one driveway, 9 if you want to count the bronco.

3 runnning first gen 2 non runners(parts for the 3 running) and 1 running 2cnd gen

6 total

No, we don't want to count the Bronco... ;)

There are lots of folks here that would tell you not to mess with any sort of liquid-magic engine/cooling system repair. With that many trucks, you should have plenty of time available to pull it apart and fix it properly, especially with all the money you saved by buying it so cheap!

Good luck.

Mike

We have two. Man we're behind!

4 Aerostars??? You MUST be a *********!

I have a buddy who loves his Aerostar, too, but I don't have that kind of patience. I hate working on stuff that my hands won't fit into.
