Little needle bearings inside the spindle. When I park the car and unlock the hubs I spin the driveshaft back and forth with my hand and can here the noise coming from the hub area. O and it doesend make the noise if I'm turning.

It turned out to be stuff in the axle tube. I sprayed a little WD-40 and it stopped. What should I use to keep from stuff getting in there?

Yes it is behind denny's. Thats pretty funny you know where it is. It's out home town wheeling spot/new streight axle test zone. We are all sick of it out there, but there is some pretty crazy ditches and lines.

Looks like it flexs really well up front. How did it feel on the road?

Sorry just saw this post -- but there are spindle bearings. They are medium-sized needle bearings that go on the back and inside the spindle. Its what the outer axle shaft rides on.

Thank you. On the road it isn't bad at all, although I don't have rear shocks yet. As far as the asle seal I found this. Will it work for my dana 44?

Hey, what are the specs on the front shocks you got in there?
They look like bilsteins, what`s the compression and extension lengths and travel?
No troubles with having no front bumpstops?
Were you bottoming out those shocks?

Hmm? Huh? Eh?

Don't think those will work for your Dana 44. Maybe ones for a Jeep, but they don't work for the Ford 1/2 ton ones. Look at this pic, there is no room between the end of the left axle tube and the inner axle shaft yoke.

You can get the axle slinger in this diagram, its just a metal seal, it may kinda work, I got them for my rebuild, but didn't run them to know how well they do.
