a CLUNK sound when shifting into reverse

hey guys.... my truck is a 2004 4x4 xlt model. everytime i come to a stop and need to go in reverse. i stop, move the shift handle down to reverse and then it pauses for sometimes up to 5 seconds... then i get a CLUNK sound. especially if im on a little hill where the truck might want to roll fwd a little. Usually i have to let up on the brake a little so the truck can roll a half inch so it will get in gear.

Another thing i have is what sounds to be my front shocks squeaking. Like going over a speed bump slowly i can hear it real good. maybe this is normal wear and tear im not sure.

any advice is greatly appreciated though. I am coming up on my 30k insp for the dealer and im under warranty too

If it's still under warranty, then you're golden! I would check over the whole truck, looking for ANYTHING that might look worn, broken, misaligned, etc., then take it in to the dealership with a list in hand. Make sure that you emphasize the tranny problem. Good luck! (I wish mine was still under warranty!)

Sounds like sway bar bushings making the squeak and there are solenoids in the tranny that have been a problem. I had the tranny stuff replaced twice under warranty. It should all be covered.

I believe the bushings would be covered. When my 2002 Explorer XLS was still under warranty I was never questioned when I had a warranty issue. Heck I had some paint chips come off the front of my explorer along what I call the smile (the painted piece just above the bumper and under the grill) while washing it at the car wash and my dealer repainted it and apologized for the inconvienence.
