Howdy gang,

What has been the single most improvement in fuel economy modification you've found for the 4.6L V8? Such as catback exhaust, muffler changout, K&N (or similar), air intake, throttle body, etc? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

We do a lot of highway driving, and some camper towing in the summer months. Thank you again for your help!

I would like to know the answer to this question too, but it seems that everytime it comes up someone always turns the attention to the driver and avoids the question.

Lets face it, all us explorer owners are suffering during these high gas prices, lets help each other out.

For sake of comparing parts only lets assume the driver is already driving in best fuel saving conditions, what parts will get us more and most extra fuel?

So far all I have done to my 03 is a set of flowmasters and it seems to have only helped maybe .5 mpg better from all the data I have collected.

I would have to say underdrive pullies would beat any cold air, exhaust combo out there for economy. I sell the ASP's with good luck,no come backs won't change any driving dynamics about the vehicle.-James

What exactly do Underdrive pullies do?

well stated al! I currently have a local customer w/2002 V-8 who picked up 1.5mpg (city)average with the MAC CAI,Exhaust,ASP underdrive pullies & tuning. This customer states that the novelty still hasn't worn off so he probably could muster more if his foot weren't so heavy. I have dyno charts and you should see the torque table top flat, hp is that way as well.-J
