US Hello Everyone! Could Use Help With My 95 Explorer, Idle Dies When Warm?

Hello Everyone, Hope you are having a relaxing Memorial Day Weekend! We have an occassional problem with our new to us 95 EB Explorer. This only seems to happen when its warm and we do alot of stop & start driving in town. The idles goes so low I have to keep my foot on the gas & brake at the same time when I'm at a stop light. I took it to my mechanic, but of course, wouldn't do it for him. Ran perfect?!?! No codes came up for him to detect the problem. We replaced the fuel pump relay, still happens. I have been reading about an IAC Valve today on this website, wondering if anyone can help me with this annoying problem. Thank You. Terri Norton

Welcome to the forum! It does sound like an IACV issue.

Thanks for your response. Is it easy to replace or should we take it to our mechanic? Thanks Terri

Is it easy to replace for a amateur? Or should we take it to our mechanic? Thank You. Terri

Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to replace an IAC valve in a 95 Explorer? Can an amateur do it easily? Thanks, Terri

No, they aren't hard to replace. It's a lot cheaper to clean them, though.

See here

If you have a different engine, it might not look identical, but it will look similar.

Also, please be patient when posting. It takes people a while to respond, but if someone can help, they'll get back to you when they see your post.
