Well I have been a firm believer in Seafoam over the years until my part time job at Mighty Automotive. Mighty has unleashed a new product called Fusion FSC Total intake system cleaner. I was talking to the boss about this new product and my past love of seafoam but he was out to prove to me how inferior it was to his company's new product. I sat in on an hour-long meeting, but before we started, he placed 2 jars on the table, one with Seafoam and the other contained this Fusion FSC stuff. Then two equally crusted up spark plugs were set in each for the entirety of the meeting. Afterward we pulled out both spark plugs to observe them and the one with Seafoam well, didn't look much different, while the other plug looked surprisingly clean.

He gave me a sample to test it in my 1995 ford explorer told me to try it and report back to him with my thoughts the next day. I attached the end of the hose to the pcv intave hose with positive suction (Brake booster line would work too). After about 3 minutes the can was empty and I then poured in the Fuel additive it comes with to my full tank of gas (Ive been using 2oz Acetone/10 gallons in my tank already though) Afterwards I cranked it up and drove around, there was a little sputtering at first but what shocked me the most was that there was no famous Seafoam white smoke pouring out my exhaust! After a couple minutes of driving, she really felt smooth while accelerating and can't really say anything about extra peppiness.

The next morning I walked into his office and immediately asked him why the Seafoam looks like it's working compared to this new stuff that has no white smoke spewing out the exhaust. and he answered me saying that Seafoam just has petroleum in it and that is what actually causes the smoke and that its not actually carbon smoke that is being released.

Anyway let me know of some of your thoughts or experiences. And if you know of some other tests to visually see what the difference are between the products, let me know. thanks!

"and he answered me saying that Seafoam just has petroleum in it and that is what actually causes the smoke and that its not actually carbon smoke that is being released."

Thats not true.

I seafoamed my brotheres explorer w/ 170 k miles on the clock, added 1/3 of the can through the brake booster, and mountains of smoke came out the exhaust.. i seafoamed my 2000 taurus with 94 k and hardly any smoke came out..

If it is the seafoam making the smoke then why did different amounts of smoke come out the exhaust using the same amount of seafoam?

My friend also seafoamed his brand new explorer and nothing came out at all.. I think your boss is trying to feed you propaganda BS.

Yeah when I seafoamed my Camaro and my wife's Trailblazer I got a little smoke but not much. When I seafoamed my 1989 Nissan Pickup with 253k miles it smoked for a half hour like I have never seen before. Almost looked like I was just a brake stand for that entire time. I just did my new Explorer and it smoked a good amount as well. I wouldn't mind giving the product a try if they are giving out free samples or something though.

From what little I know of the company, Mighty has been around a while. But, like Snap-on, Cornwell, Winns (or is it Wynns), market exclusively to "professionals" (ie, shops). This means that their products aren't always readily available at your local auto parts store where the DIY'er can easily get them. While there will be a few individuals out there who have contacts and so could potentially get some of this stuff, I expect that, for most of us, it isn't really going to matter if it is better than Seafoam or not. We won't be able to get a hold of it.
