Frustrating day Driveshaft came in and it may be 1/4" to long. Well it is, but I'm waiting to find out if 3/4" of slip will be enough.

Put the car on it's wheels, cranked up the torsion bars to ride height and my front tire is hitting one of the header tubes... badly. It looks like I will need to go to 24" tires if I keep these headers. Now I need to make a choice. Buy different headers and deal with the fitment issues of different headers, or go to a smaller tire which probably won't look as good.

As always the path is never straight...

Pics? Maybe the headers can be modified / re-routed if the tire is hitting only one of the primary tubes.

It could be modified to clear, but it would make that tube longer.

Better to send it back and have it shortened than risk the drivetrain, and all the work you've done so far.

Stock size tires with original wheel width and offset?

Why not just run some narrower ones, or even the super narrow drag-racing kind, since it's a bracket racer?

Surely with narrow tires and wheels with the right offset, it would clear the headers no problem.

4.5" wide racing tires. Only 25.9" diameter on 3.5" rims. This is just the way it is with these headers. I knew people had problems rubbing tires on them even when everything was right. I took the chance and ran the 26" because a few people said they were running them without any trouble.

I've been on the other boards looking at as many combos as I could and started a thread asking for first hand info. I believe I will be running 24s for awhile. Once I've run it for a season or so I may go with different headers and make the required mods at that time. I'm just ready to run it now... I don't need any more set backs.

Wouldn't ya know... The track was closed because of a little rain. Pathetic... it was 113 degrees today, a bit of storm blew through and they closed the dang track. With the temps as high as they are and the humidity as low as it is, the track could have been dried in a matter of minutes by lapping a few cars around for 20 minutes or so.

We have a 30% chance of rain for tomorrow night too. Hopefully they'll be open.

That looks fan-fricken-tastic, Rick. I'm anxious to hear that big block rumble.

If that doesnt work out I have two 5 gallon pales of 110 Sunoco. If that is not potent enough I can get whatever you need. We sell it here, come in, I would love to see you.
Car looks fantastic. Makes me want to get my Mustang project going. If I had two nickles to rub together I might. Some day.

Just picked up 5 gallons of Sunoco 110 at the new Shell station in our town. It's right by the track, that's why they sell it there. It's stashed in a far corner of the store. Char noticed it the other day

And then shortly after that you turn some little metal deal near the steering wheel.

I don't have one of those More like a few plastic switches

While I was waiting on the fuel I started installing the Lexan quarter windows. I've got one nearly finished. It will take another day to do the last one. After that I'm ready to go.
