Its not so bad for the price.. wish i could of found someone to mandrel bend for cheap but the curve isnt too restrictive. i can notice a difference in throttle response and mpg when im not getting on it too much. im a sucker for that 'swoosh' sound. the MAF adapter had an open vaccum port and after a little dish soap the air intake temp. sensor fit right in. I wondered if having the sensor so close to the filter and before the MAF would make a difference but there doesnt seem to be any, and no codes were thrown.

K&N filter - $40
MAF adapter - $12
3" pipe w/90 - $10
...plus tax.

MAF adaptor

Hey, so where'd you get your MAF adaptor for only $12? Please let me know as I'll be going your route and designing my own intake. Thanks for the help.

looks good, wish the picture was better ! He prolly got the adapter off ebay which is where I got mine. How big is the opening on the adapter?

actually i picked it up at auto zone.. they had a couple different ones. i went with the aluminum over the plastic that was beside it on the shelf. It's a 3" adapter, makes it perfect for the setup. sorry the picture is so small, im not too intelligent when it comes to photoshop.

nice, did it fit exactly or did you have to drill holes to make it fit? How much did it cosT?

Nice

The great thing is it is relatively a straight shot for the air. I think you would notice a big diff if you heat sheilded the filter and wrapped the pipe with heat sheild from the lumber yard or somewhere. I have the tornado intake insert in my 01 and it made a serious difference to because it spins the air just before the TB and into the intake. Very nice...

Sorry, but it has been proven that the Tornado does absolutely nothing for hp and mileage.

EXACTLY What snocross said.....tornado does NOTHING. no more posting from you.

yeah a friend and i made a tornado out of flash sheet metal and all it did was make a whiney noise. A heat shield for my intake is next after I mess around with my Eddie Bauer i just picked up.

lol....

I used the adapter from AZ too, but all I did was put a Cone filter on the end of the MAF. I removed the outer cover and put it on the end...works well but I like your setup MUCH better :D

I would heat shield the filter. My K&N FIPK came with one. PM me if you want me to snap some pics.

It seems that your opinion might be the only right one to you, unless you have some numbers. Something gets me 26-28 MPG, must just be me.. It is impressive how much money you have put into your X though, enjoy...
