Okay, so I have way too much time on my hands! While I was changing out the rotors and the brake pads I figured I might as well paint the calipers. The color of choice: Orange, my college's primary color. I used VHT High Temperature Caliper paint in a spray can.

gee i always wondered too:p: now i know! but they came out nice and a nice X by the way too:thumbsup:

Looks good, could pass for a more red than orange. The jack stands you used are def an orange :p:

I like the rims. Whats the Brand and model of them?

nice!

where did you get your rotors from?

Every time I see slotted and drilled rotors they are on differently. Some have the leading slot facing forward and others facing to rear. I have mine leading slot facing forward, as I see depicted my most makers sites.

The rims are manufactured by "Helo" and the style is called "Tease".

The rotors are from R1Concepts.

I spoke with several manufacturers of rotors before installing these. I was told by all of them that the direction of the slots does not affect perfomance one way or another. Bottom line, mount them however you feel like because they will stop just as well either direction. A few people suggested that mounting them with the slot angled back like I have them would help reduced the amount of brake dust collected.

got my rotors from them too.
They said that the rotors go the other way.
leading slot goes counter clockwise on left side of truck and leading edge goes right on right side of truck . It changes cooling dynamics (slots/holes and angle) and forces applied to the pad. They way you have them your pushing outwards on the pads.

Its funny everyone says differently...LOL. I found a few forums where everyone was confused.
The quest for right rotor direction continues.

They look great. and the calipers look great too. Now I feel the need to paint mine..
Nice truck....clean:thumbsup:

Check this out:

http://www.zeckhausen.com/how_to_properly_install_rotors.htm

It states that rotors should NOT be mounted based on slot and drilling pattern rather they are mounted based on the venting vanes located inbetween the rotor's contact area. My (front) rotors came with straight radial venting vanes rather than directional cooling vanes. My (front) factory rotors had straight venting vanes also. So in this case it doesn't matter which direction they are mounted. The rear rotors do not have venting vanes at all. I think all the manufacturers I talked to probably did not have directional cooling vanes thus they told me it didn't matter which direction you mount them. Did your rotors come with directional venting vanes?

Good link... Thanks:thumbsup:

Supports what I have read about where people are saying it doesn't matter with non directional.

How are you liking your stopping power so far?
I am still waiting for a good front set from R1.
I have the rears on now and even they made a noticeable difference.

Again. Nice ride.... I like the rims.

Thanks for the compliment. The rotors work great and make all the difference!
