LOL wow $80! I know the gas prices are higher there but I $80 of gas will last my Civic for about a month. You could've bought FROADER's dual sport . That way, his uncle didn't have to get two black eyes and a missing motorcycle.

I could have given him the $400 that bike was worth. Then he could have given his uncle the $$$ and the beating.

Thanks for blurring out the Chevy tow rig. No one wants to see that.

Driveline trouble, or did the 6.0 leave you out in the snow?

I pulled some cheby out.. we parked for a while for some photog opps. Started the truck back up, turned around, headed down the snowy road. I was just coasting down and the idle became rough. I stopped at the bottom and it slowly stalled. Started it back up... stalled. White smoke coming from the exhaust. Smells like diesel. Again.. and I barely got it moving to the parking lot. Absolutely now power. Eventually it would sort of not even turn over. So we drove down to town to pick up my trailer. Came back up. Wouldn't turn over at all.

So this morning we called the PG&E mechanic who works on tons of 6.0s. He was hoping it was the batteries. Said low voltage would cause the injector not to fire. So we charged them all morning. Still nothing. So I bought new ones. Still nothing. You turn the key and kind of get a 'thud' sound. That's it. Doesn't even try to turn over.

Oil looks fine (was changed by the dealer the day before this happened), coolant is good, was full of fuel.

So I dunno.

Have you checked the CPS? They are known to go out without much, if any, notice. They are easy to change and the price has come down alot in the last couple of years. If that is the problem buy it from a International dealer and not Ford.

I was hoping that's what it was. But I read that its a 7.3L problem. Have you heard of it going out on the 6.Sl0w?

I still have a warranty through the Ford dealer so hopefully it won't cost me anything. Shoot, I only put 6k miles on it so far.

It is a bigger problem with the 7.3s but the NHTSB did start an investigation on the 6.0L CPS failures but not for the 7.3L. International will charge about $50 for one, where as Ford will charge about $100.

What about the CKP?

Also, I dont know what the 6.0 uses but the 7.3 has a mechanical high pressure oil pump (HPOP) which pressurizes the injectors. If the 6.0 has something similar, check to make sure there's oil in the HPOP reservoir.

I have not heard of the crank sensor going. But who knows. I just hope it's nothing too huge. I don't want to be without it all winter.

Looks like I am driving the POS mountaineer again.

CKPs are typically not a big issue to replace cauz its usually right at the main pulley -- but the CKP is one of the things that goes bad frequently before anything else in the 7.3s (first most frequent thing to go bad is probably the GPR).

Did it blow off one of the intake hoses?

I'm sooooooooo glad my 7.3 has been problem free to date, and the only major problems have been the clutch and a door lock motor..

That was the first thing we checked. All the blue hoses.

I am heading to the dealer as soon as I jumpstart the Mountaineer.
