1995 Suzuki Sidekick 4x4

So, I acquired this fine vehicle as apart of a trade. It has a few issues, but is mostly pretty good. No pictures, it was dark when I got home with it.

1.6 L 4 cyl

5 speed manual trans

Soft top

Purple

150k

Clean tittle

4x4 doesn't appear to work, the light comes on, I can hear the auto hubs make a little noise, but doesn't appear to turn the front wheels.

I've always thought that one of those would be fun to build up and beat the piss out of

If you put decent axles under it Fr/Rr and 33" tires your approach/departure angle will be awesome.

There was a pretty sweet 4 door Sidekick at the campground in Ouray over Labor Day weekend.

I'm in the process of putting a Calmini catback on the wifes X90 'Zuki. I say process because I just got the muffler/tailpipe off today when the rain hit. I just wish it was 4wd instead of 2wd

I was thinking of some cheap dana 30's from a heep, 33's and beat the hell out of it. Its not like I'd be breaking axle shafts with 95 peak HP.

EDIT: Scratch that on the Heep axles, I forgot it was a passenger side drop.

The red one on 44's looks awesome though.

Pictures later today.

Eww... passenger side drop, you'd have to cut down a Dodge axle right?

Ok, mount some 33's and sawzall and until they fit

So tomorrow an oil change and I am going to check out the front hubs. The 4x4 light comes on but doesn't pull. I can hear a hub clicking a little, so maybe I can repair them. If not, I'll go manual hubs, I don't really trust auto hubs anyway.

Oh, the oil change cost $10 4 quarts of Napa oil and a cheapo filter.

The rocky road suspension thing is cool- I can't spend $800 on a lift though. A 2" body lift may be the thing though- a little extra clearance without significant expense.

In reality, I need to leave this thing alone for the most part. It's supposed to get crazy mileage, I already have a capable 4x4 that gets crappy mileage.

I may camo clad the body though to eliminate the color issue, bump to a bigger size tire. The gearing is low enough as is, it runs 3k at 60 mph. 0-60 is quick too.

Its IFS front Sammys were the only solid axle Zuks. Those things are crazy high even when beat up and abused.

I highly recommend the Calmini cat back exhaust for $19 plus shipping. It may not be fully bolt on. It wasn't on the wife's X90. It does not sound ricey at all. The wife loved how it sounds.

I haven't had a chance to drive it yet as I have to fab a hanger tomorrow so the muffler doesn't hang lower than the rear diff

I fiddled around with the 4x4 tonight-after some backing up and pulling forward a few times, the hubs locked in. I guess they hadn't been used for some time, just needed a little help.

I've got to fix the drivers side window, it rolls down OK, but up, it slips out of the track and I really have to wiggle it around to make it go up. I think one of the lower mounts where it attaches to the lift mechanism is broken.

I've gone 150 miles on 1/2 a tank, which should only be 5 gal. and some of it has been um, spirited driving I pulled out on the main road in the rain, gagged it, hit second and got nearly completely sideways in the road. This thing is so much fun to drive!
