Moab is out of reach for me this year, I spent 3 days wrenching on my BII to get her ready, new t case, rebuilt steering, rebuilt front locker, moved my front wheels forward, rebuilt steering column, new shifter setup........only to find out my transmission is fubared

SUCKS

I need a rebuild and my transmission is custom (AA output shaft)

I think I will be going with a 4406 t case in the BII and skip the AA stuff, just need about $2000 now....sheesh

SUCKS

Hell's Revenge

Based on the Well's description (as well as Gerald's) anyone out there want to guide Hell's Revenge? Seems like local knowledge or previous experience is recommended.

I think that's what made it so much fun! The best part was that it was the weekend of the Moab Car Show and they basically shut down main street to let all the hot rods and muscle cars cruize. It was pretty cool to listen to the exhaust echo off the cannyon walls when someone would open it up.

Well, I didn't get the cutting brake fully intalled over the weekend. Turns out, one of the 144" braided stainless steel AN-3 brake lines I ordered has a faulty fitting on it. When I say faulty, I mean that it looks okay, but there are no threads on the inside of it. I am callling that company here in a few minutes to get a replacement.

I did get the rool cage mods done though

410, that does suck, I understand your frustration. I spent all day saturday getting my truck squared away, got all the gauges layed out, but couldn't find the hole saws I needed. Drove the truck around all day Sunday to continue to "test" everything out that is new, well as bad luck has it, I started to truck to go to work today and saw a leaking puddle underneath it after I ran into the house. I've got a gas leak under the hood of all things! It's dripping right between the engine and transmission, I'm guessing it has to be a line up top but dressed nice for work and running on a tight schedule I didn't have time to pop the hood.

I'm still crossing my fingers to get on this trip. First throttle cable issues, then key breaks off in ignition, then a gas leak, I just can't win. These aren't even related to the projects I've been doing either.

ouch a gas leak is not common on these at all! Fuel leaking where the engine and tranny meet could really only be one thing, a faulty FPR or o ring unless the fuel lines got pinched or cut with all the work going on around them

If you need some fuel line parts let me know.....

Hopefully you just pinched a fuel line.. If you managed to mangle the fuel rail (where the line goes in at the back of the engine) I have a spare fuel rail sitting in my shed I can get to you fast...

Also, for hole saws.. check Harbor Freight Tools.. I know there are a couple up there and I saw they had a regular set and a big set last time I needed a set.

4 5/8" is an odd size.. You may need to use one of those adjustable saws. Here is the HFT page for their adjustable saw.. (never tried an adjustable saw on metal before)..

if 410 and danny aren't going, the two cars and peeps and i wanted to wheel with won't be making it

410, you can always bring the daily explorer

danny, i hate to say this, but it sounds like your blue explorer is turning into your old limited explorer

i think i know what the problem is, your trying to make the truck better, thats why its breaking. the only time you didn't have a lot of problems was when you were trying to break the car and didn't plan on keeping it

Well I was dancing around on the engine while working on the wiring and replacing the throttle body gasket. I guess thats one advantage of a 4 pin removable hood, I'm walking around on top of the engine but I may have stepped on something that I shouldn't have.

Mark, thanks for the hole saw, I was going to look for something like that.

Oh I will be there R.J., most of my issues are brought upon by the rebuild, but with that, I've got a few new things to figure out. I might have my shop tackle this problem if it's not solved by Thurs. Don't curse me with the troubled limited. I'm a much wiser man now and I'm glad I stuck with this truck, many less power options to deal with.

yup, XL no thrills but it works perfect with the new door skins, got the locksmith coming over tomorrow on roadside assistance to fix the ignition, sold my 33s, got my 35s mounted (rears are in ROUGH shape but I have a full size spare + a spare set of 33s coming with me on this trip).

Just got another bit of good news, my buddy who was supposed to be in Iraq until Aug gets back to PHX tomorrow, he'll be joining us. The 15 month reduced to 12 month thing with the troops actually took effect on current troops. I thought that would have started in like 2013.

I hope everyone else is still on schedule. Diesel is hitting $4.65 here now(and I've heard Moab is even more), I've got a lot of planning for this trip, next I'm going to have to rob a bank so I can buy the fuel for this trip.

Yep, okay, got it... In my defense, it was a couple of hundred posts ago...

Anyway, I may find myself in Moab as early as Tuesday - - anyone else coming in early?
