Ok, first of all. I found this forum... FRICKIN' AWESOME! I love it. I've already posted once already on here, lookin' for some help. Everyone helped me out great, and also welcomed me. Great people, shout out to gijoecam, he helped me out a great deal. Anyways, here's a pic of my Exploder. It's a 1998 Sport 2WD, with the OHV 4.0. I'm guessing it's the OHV, on the VIN it's the "X" engine code.
351 SWAP BABY!!! BAHA! >.< Just kidding, my moms used to work at the Explorer plant in Louisville, KY. So, she'd always bring these home, these and the "EXPLORER" badges... Lol.
Here's the engine bay. She's a little dusty right now, needs a nice shower... when it warms up. The grass was frozen when I took these pics, lol.
How in the world, am I supposed to change these? Lol... My mom's boyfriend did, about... 20K miles ago, I'm not really too worried right now.
AND STILL RUNNING STRONG... with the exception of a few odd noises, and serious slack in the steering(she needs a new rack, SOB costs $300+ at Autozone though, with a $125 core charge)
Ok, these inner and outters were changed 10K miles ago, practically new. Are they supposed to have this much rust on them already? If you're from Louisville, or have Medley's in your area. NEVER go there, they use VERY cheap parts. It was funny though... they were shaped like a V.. a wide V.. maybe an L at an angle... but the tire was like \---| |---| /--| whenever I drove.
I had the same problem a lot of you are having with the door, we took it to the dealership, they told us it was going to cost $500 to fix. PHAWK DAT, HOMIE! I wish I had found this site earlier...
This it what happens when we tried to pull the lock out with pliers to unlock the door, when it was sticking. "Bad actuator, give us $500" Stupid dealers...
Now... onto the aftermarket...
Most awesome CD player ever, it comes with a remote. I'm easily satisfied... but seriously, it has a color display, and I can change it to display pictures I've taken. I got some of the GF on there right now, that I wont post on here. ^-^ The volume buttom fell off, I was messing with the power wire, to run an amp, the CD player fell, and I couldn't find it... it just slides on though... so, as soon as I find it it's back on. Lol.
Kicker 5x8s in the front and rear. Great sound quality, as long as there's no bass running to them. Then they sound like crap... I want some POLK's.
These are actually for sell. Kicker Comp VR(07 models), 12". I'm only asking $200, so if anyone in the Southern Indiana, Northern Kentucky area wants them. Bring $200 to Pekin, Indiana and they're yours. I don't have an amp, and I can't afford one right now.
A couple of questions for everyone...
WTF ARE THESE FOR!? Are there supposed to be lights in there, or they just reflectors so someone doesn't run into your door at night?
This thing shoots out power steering fluid everytime I put a jack under her. I noticed it when I changed the brakes... I thought it was brake fluid, but no... it was PS fluid. Then, I noticed it again when I bent my inner/outter tie rod, and I jacked her up to check what was Effed up. Is this common? Or could it be 'cause of the faulty rack?
And for anyone who cares.
The girlfriend and I, at The Great Lawn in Louisville, KY. I KNOW!! A girlfriend AND an Explorer!!!!! How do I afford both? Two jobs. Lol.
And once again, GREAT SITE! I'm very excited about joining. Infact, I'm already having dreams. I saw one of the other members running a turbo, I WANT THAT!! Can someone give me a link to the build if there is one? That's FARKIN' AWESOME! My bro-in-law has a Boosted Teggie, so... I want the Boosted Expie. Either that, or maybe just a K&N intake(the entire thing, not just the filter 'cause we can order them at Autozone, where I work, plus I get a 20% discount), along with headers and exhaust, plus a lift. Speaking of the lift, can anyone give me links to some lift kits for 2WD Explorer's? And whats the biggest size tire I can run on the stock 15" rim without a lift? Maybe to add a little attitude to her for now. You guys are awesome.
