very uneven brake wear
I Just replaced my front pads [4x4 4.0 98ranger113k] and was surprised to find the left wheel pads had one-> two 32nd on them (with a slight taper on the pad) while the pads on the right wheel had at least 6/32. I was surprised to see such a discrepancy...is this normal or should the left and right wheel have closer wear? I also notice that when I pushed the cylinders on the left side I did not see the brake fluid level rise. After pushing the right side the fluid level rose to the max mark. Is this also normal or do I have an issue in the line or master??? or did I get ripped off on last brake job (50k ago, first job@~65k).Rotor looked/felt ok (rotors& calibers replaced last job)
Also- it looks like the ford c d and d v d site is gone, anybody know an alternate place? or should I go for helminc or ebay? is they worth it? Helm has a daily subscription I thought might be worth spending 24 hours just downloading TSB and the every section I can...has anybody tried that? __________________ 'You can't be lost if you have nowhere to go' Last edited by 98REDrang; 01-22-2008 at 05:24 PM. I wouldn't complain about a brake job that lasted 50k miles, that's really good
for fronts. There are several possible causes to check. Air in the line to the passenger side Warped rotor on driver side, so it rubs more rust or debris in caliper piston on passenger side keeps it from moving all the way rust or debris in caliper piston on driver side keeps it tight Some of those could cause pulling to one side if bad, but not always. Now it may sound silly, but over 50k miles, it may just be that you have done a lot more turns in one direction than the other. Especially if you commute and make a lot of downhill lefts with only you in the car, that can cause more wear on the left front. __________________ 2007 Ranger XLT 4x4. |
