Radio lights out
I have a 2001 Eddie Bauer (not sure if it makes a difference), but last night I got into my Ex and the lights for my radio display no longer come on. It still works (steering wheel controls, too), it's just the display no longer lights up so I can't see what station I'm on or what time it is. The climate control still works and lights up, and so does the "information center".
Any idea? Do I need to buy a replacement, or is it fixable? |

Just for clarification, are the steering wheel lights out too?

Bill is on track, sounds like a repair. But just in case you do your own, here is a link.
http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/...7&postcount=22 If the radio has a fuse, replace it... and also check and clean the adapters. Are you familiar with removing the radios and bezel? |

Sweet, that's definately something I can handle. I have never removed the radio from my Ex, althought I have removed the bezel once to install a switch for my driving lights. Do I need a special tool to pull the radio?

There seems to be multiple ways of removing the radio... One member just removed the two screws holding it in, bezel and radio came out... others use, think it's called a radio removal tool, not sure. There are some excellent pics... Check out Spabula and SilverSPL... i'm not sure of the link, you might wanna search radio removal. It's very easy to remove them...
